How Big Is The Track Indianapolis Motor Speedway? [Facts!]

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most famous tracks in the world. It was once home to the Indy 500, one of the most prestigious annual car races. The Size Of The Track

The Turns And Vertices

These are the curves in the road, usually at least partially banked, that you have to take care of when driving around the track. In a nutshell, the track is made up of these curves. The long straights between the turns help to keep the speeds down, though this does mean that the cars can reach great speeds, especially if they’re going flat out when entering a curve. Though fast, the turns at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are tricky to master. In order to make the corners flat out, the track makers add an additional layer of asphalt, known as an intermediate pitch, to the surface. This makes the corner significantly more slippery, though this extra thickness also helps to keep the temperatures down in the summertime.

The Changing Landscape
