The Speedway card is an electronic wallet that can be used for both online and offline shopping. It is the upgraded version of the original VeriWave card.
This updated version of the VeriWave card allows you to make purchases at almost all online retailers and at many brick-and-mortar stores. If you’re unfamiliar, the VeriWave card was first released in 2014 and can be categorized as an “augmented reality wallet.” It was initially designed for use with the popular virtual reality (VR) headset, the Oculus Rift, but it can also be used with other VR headsets like the HTC Vive and Samsung’s Gear VR.
I think that many of you will agree that VR has changed the way that we look at retail and how it functions in general. With many people already investing in VR headsets and gear, it’s clear that this technology is here to stay. And along with VR comes the ability to use AR (augmented reality) or MR (mixed reality) to make purchases in real-life stores and online retailers.
So how exactly do I load the Speed-way Card? Let’s take a quick look.
How Do I Use the Speedway Card?
If you’ve ever used a PayPal wallet or Venmo account, you’ll have no problem using the Speedway Card. Simply sign-in with your existing account or create a new one if you don’t have one yet. Once you’re logged in, all you have to do is touch the camera button on the right side of your phone’s display to unlock the device. Then, you can slide the slider on the left to enter the 3D realm of the speedway card.
If you don’t have a VR headset, you can also use your phone’s camera to scan the barcode on the back of the card to make a purchase. The convenience of this method makes it very attractive to those of you who plan to use the Speedway Card frequently, especially since the entire process can be done without having to remove your phone’s headphones first.
To make a purchase, simply open your favorite shopping app or website and enter the items that you want to purchase. When you get to the checkout process, you will be asked to pay with the Speedway Card. If you’ve used PayPal or Venmo before, the process will be quite similar. If you haven’t, you can expect some minor differences, which I’ll discuss below.
What Are The Major Differences Between The VeriWave Card And The Speedway Card?
Aside from the fact that the Speedway Card is a more recent release than the VeriWave card, the biggest difference between the two is the upgrade in functionality that comes with it. The VeriWave card was only able to make online purchases and those at a few select brick-and-mortar stores, while the Speedway Card can be used at almost any retail location, whether online or offline.
The biggest advantage to this update is that it allows users to make purchases at more places and with more freedom than the VeriWave card. Since the Speedway Card was built off the foundation of PayPal and Venmo, you’ll find that many more retail options are available to you than with the VeriWave card. The latter still works with a select group of online retailers and at some brick-and-mortar stores, but it can’t be used at all others.
What Is The Difference Between Online And Offline Shopping?
If you’ve shopped at an online store before, you know exactly what online shopping is. However, if you’ve never bought anything online or if you’ve only bought from small online stores and e-commerce companies, you may be wondering what exactly offline shopping is. To put it simply, offline shopping is shopping that you do in person at a retail store. It might also be shopping that you do at a retail store via the internet or phone while physically in another country, which is often the case with online shopping due to the nature of the global marketplace. So while most online retailers will have physical locations where you can visit and make purchases, not all will. Additionally, you might find that some brick-and-mortar stores only offer online shopping or have select products that they sell exclusively online. So if you want to purchase those items in person, you’ll have to go online to do it.
What Is The Purpose Of The Privacy And Security Sliders?
The two sliders below the camera in your Speedway Card are there for privacy and security. As the name suggests, the privacy slider is used to regulate how much information you want to make available to the public about yourself. The security slider is used to regulate how much information you want to make available to online retailers and other companies about you. These two sliders are fairly self-explanatory, but if you’re curious, check out this blog post from PayPal to learn more.
How Many Credit Cards Can I Use?
If you’ve used PayPal or Venmo before, you know how important it is to have more than one credit card on file. This way, your bank can pull up your credit report at any time and see that you have other forms of payment, like PayPal or Venmo, on file. This makes you more of a risk to the bank and, thus, more attractive as a customer.
Having more than one credit card on file isn’t just important for purchases. It’s also important to have in case there are problems with your card in the future. In the event that your card is lost or stolen, your other cards will be able to help you get back on your feet financially. Many credit cards offers an additional layer of security when used in conjunction with the PIN number that you were given for the specific card. In the event that your card is lost or stolen, the bank or credit card company will block all activity until a new card can be issued.
How Do I Make A Purchase With The Card?
To make a purchase with the Speedway Card, you’ll need to have an existing PayPal account or Venmo account. Once you’ve signed in, touched the camera button on your phone, and entered the 3D realm of the card, you’ll see the purchase options available to you. As mentioned above, the card can be used at almost any retail location, whether online or offline, and many of the options are dependent on the location. However, some online retailers may have restrictions on where the card can be used or what types of purchases can be made with it. Some popular stores that the card can be used at includes Starbucks, Whole Foods Market, and Disney Store. Remember, if you’ve used Venmo or PayPal before, the process will be quite similar.
