Redeeming rewards points at SeaWorld & Splash Waterpark in Orlando, Florida, was a fun experience for my family and me. We were able to redeem three stamps in one trip to add to our collection of animal-themed stamps that we had done previously. I had heard from others that it was difficult to redeem rewards points at this particular location, so I was looking forward to the challenge.
The Process Was Stress Free
As we began to walk towards the redemption booth, a member of the Cast Members team greeted us and asked us if we were there for the special event that was happening that day. I told him that we were trying to redeem some rewards points and he told us that he would help us. He then proceeded to walk us through the process which was easy and straightforward.
We walked up to the counter where there was a girl who was extremely helpful and took the time to answer all of our questions. She had a smile on her face the whole time and was very pleasant to deal with. She even called my mother by name which my mom mentioned to me was very kind because she doesn’t get to meet a lot of people.
After about ten minutes, the girl at the desk called our friend Lisa over who was also there with her mother. Lisa had been having a difficult time finding documentation that she needed to make her mother’s birthday present. She came back with an annoyed look on her face and told us that the process was difficult and that she felt like she was being taken advantage of because of how unnecessary some of the questions were.
We had been at the location for over an hour and had not yet seen any other guests there to help with redemption. We were starting to see a bit of a line forming, so we decided to leave hoping that we would come back another time when there were more people there to help.
Everything Was Timed Perfect
When we got back on the road to our hotel, I turned to my mother and said, “I think we may have found a way to make this easier. They probably won’t have as many employees there at 4 p.m. as they do at 10 a.m., noon, and 4 p.m.” We arrived at the hotel and checked in. I then proceeded to call the hotel front desk to let them know that we were there and asked if there was any message for me. The lady who answered the phone was very happy to hear from me and said that there was a package waiting for me. My mom and I looked at each other in disbelief as she handed the package to me. It was then that I found out what was in the package and my heart sank as I saw the wrapping paper and ribbon. I opened it up and found a card that said, “Merry Christmas, Zach! Love, Dad.” There was also a little gift-wrapped present inside which was a scarf and a t-shirt with the Paw Patrol on it. As I looked down at the gift-wrapped presents, my mom began to cry as she hugged me. I couldn’t help but feel like I had been tricked. I had been at the location for over four hours and had been completely ignored while my family was spending Christmas Eve at a theme park. I was so hurt and disappointed that I wasn’t able to redeem my rewards points.
We ate dinner that evening and then called the front desk to ask if there was any updates about our package. The receptionist said that there was no update and that we should expect to hear from the post office in the morning. We decided to call it a night and went up to our room. As we laid in bed that night, I began to feel bad about what had happened and that I had caused my parents so much heartache by being careless with my spending habits. I decided that I would try and make it up to them by being more thoughtful this year. I called the front desk again to see if there was any update. The girl who answered gave me the message that the package had been delivered and that we should expect to hear from the post office in the morning. It was at that point that I decided to look into ways that I could have prevented this from happening. I wish that I could say that this was an isolated incident, but it’s not. I’ve heard from others that it’s very difficult to redeem rewards points at SeaWorld & Splash Waterpark in Orlando, Florida.
