How Do You Redeem Your Speedway Points? [Fact Checked!]

If you’re reading this, I assume you’re either a racing fan or somebody who wants to become one. The name Richard Petty might not be as familiar as it should be, but he is one of the all-time greats in the history of NASCAR. He is also the father of the legendary Richard Childress, and together they helped popularize stock car racing in the United States. Today I’m going to tell you everything you need to know about redeeming your Speedway points.

Where Can I Use My Points?

When you make a purchase at one of the stores that sponsors NASCAR, you’ll receive a welcome bonus of 10 points. These are good for the following:

  • One of the following: Dinner with a celebrity, an exotic vacation, a private tour of a NASCAR museum, or a movie screening with popcorn and a Pepsi
  • One of the following: A backstage pass to a NASCAR race, an autograph from a NASCAR driver, a meet and greet with a NASCAR celebrity, or an opportunity to pose for a photo with a NASCAR driver
  • One of the following: A premium membership to a fantasy baseball league, an all-access pass to a concert, or a stand-alone season of a TV show
  • A free one-year subscription to a magazine or newspaper

Redeeming Your Points

You’ll see a popup box when you make a purchase online or in a store. To redeem your points, you need to enter the code that’s on your confirmation email or print out your receipt. Then you can either enter the code manually or choose to have your phone scan the barcode and enter the code for you. These steps are self-explanatory, but let’s take a quick look at how the system works behind the scenes to make sure you understand it correctly.

How Do You Calculate Redemption?

When you make your purchase, you’ll have the option of paying with PayPal or a credit card. If you pay with PayPal, you’ll automatically receive 10 points. Otherwise, when you use a credit card, you’ll receive 5 points. Regardless of which option you choose, your total will be the same. This amount should be similar to what you would’ve received if you’d gone through the checkout process and made the same purchase with a debit card. (Keep in mind: You’ll need to spend $24.99 or more to earn 10 points.)

The Downsides

The good news is the perks from sponsorship are numerous and valuable. The bad news is it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There are a few drawbacks. First, although you receive the welcome bonus immediately after making a purchase, you won’t see the benefits until you make another purchase or log into your account. The second downside is similar to the first: The points you receive don’t provide any benefits other than what I’ve already listed. In addition, you must redeem them for something within the first year. After that you’ll need to contact customer service for more information about what benefits you’re eligible for.

Who’s Eligible For These Perks?

You must be 18 years old to access and use the perks. You also need to make a purchase at one of the stores or online stores that sponsors NASCAR. You’re not restricted to using your points only at those stores, but it’s a good idea to do so to maximize the benefits. (You can learn more about the stores that sponsor NASCAR at Finally, you need to be registered and a member of the NASCAR group on Facebook to be able to access the perks. (You can sign up for a free account at If you’re interested in becoming a member of the NASCAR group on Facebook, you can access this by going to and scrolling to the bottom of the page.

What About The Annual Fee?

As I mentioned above, after you redeem 10 points for one of the aforementioned perks, you’ll need to make another purchase or log into your account to see the benefits of the next 10 points you earn. Since this is a recurring monthly expense, it cuts into your savings quite a bit, especially if you decide to save for future use. The good news is there’s an alternative. The NASCAR Store’s FAQ page explains that if you pay the annual fee of $24.99, you’ll be able to log in to your account whenever you want and access all the perks.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is if you’re a racing fan or somebody who wants to become one, then the NASCAR Store is a great place to start. With all the perks it has to offer, it’s not hard to see why. However, if you’re looking for a one-stop-shop for all your needs, then it’s not the best option. Regardless, if you want to become a racing fan, the perks are certainly worth it.
