How Far Is Daytona Speedway To Anna Maria Island? [Updated!]

Many moons ago, my husband’s family and I decided to take a road trip to Florida. We had never been there, and I wanted to check it out. As usual, my husband’s family had different ideas. They wanted to stay in Chicago and see the White Sox play the Cubs. But we booked our flight and headed south. What an adventure that was! It was so fun to visit places we’d always heard about but had never seen. While the beaches might not be as beautiful as we were used to back home in Connecticut, the weather was wonderful and the people were so much more hospitable. We stopped at a lot of places, but our favorite was Daytona Beach, especially since my nephew was a season ticket holder there. One of my fondest memories is of sitting in the grandstands as the cars roared around the track. It was like being there in person! We went to see the Dolphins play the Chicago Bears in the 1979 NFL Championship Game. We were so close we could almost touch the field. It was such an exciting event. Then we headed to the beach and had our picture taken with the famous puffer fish, which my husband is holding in this photo. We were on vacation, and what a wonderful time it was! My husband’s family still gets together every year at this time, and they talk about that trip a lot. I would highly recommend a trip to Florida now that I’m older and wiser (and hopefully more mature). It was such a memorable trip, and it’s so nice to have old pictures to look back on. If you get the chance, go to Florida! You’ll have a good time!

The Ultimate Bucket List

Many of you reading this probably have a bucket list of places and things you want to do before you die. Maybe you even made a list of 100 things you want to do before you turn 40. Well, now would be a good time to start crossing off items number 69, 71, 73, and so on. Why? There are a lot of tourist traps and overrated attractions in Florida. Sure, there are some wonderful places there, but there are also a lot of places that you would never, ever want to go to. For example, there is the Florida Aquarium. It’s a beautiful building, and it houses a lot of fish tanks. But if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like fish, then this place is a complete waste of time. There’s also the Shark Valley, where you can get up close and personal with large, hungry sharks. If you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like being around large animals, then this place is a definite no-no. Then there’s the Museum of Art, which has an excellent collection of vintage cars. But if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t like cars, then again, this place is a waste of time. So, it’s important to make a list of the things you love, as well as the things you don’t like, about Florida. After you make the list, you can decide which places you want to see, and which ones you want to avoid. For example, a place I love is Micanopy where you can get potpourri, which is an essential ingredient for many cakes and cookies. So on my bucket list for Florida are Micanopy and Ocala, where they have a lot of antiques stores and cute little towns with gas stations and bars. Those are the kinds of places I like to visit. But there are also a lot of tourist traps in those places, so again, it’s up to you to decide what you want out of your trip. Sometimes, all it takes is a little bit of research and asking questions. For example, I didn’t know there was a drive-in theater in Florida. I assumed they showed movies in movie theaters, but no, they show them in big, open-air theaters, where you go in your car. It’s weird. So, if I want to see a movie theater, I have to look for one that shows movies in 4K resolution, which most don’t. If you want to avoid movie theaters, then you can’t go wrong with this option either. You’ll be driving on a highway for most of the time, so you’ll have the road to yourself. That’s always a plus!

There are so many options when it comes to Florida travel. You can visit museums and art galleries, enjoy live music and festivals, or you can even bring your pets! My suggestion is to make a list of the places you want to see, and the places you want to avoid. It will be much easier to make the right choice, and it will save you a lot of time and hassle. Now is the perfect time to start planning your trip, whether it’s this weekend, or in the next few months. Don’t forget: the earlier you go, the less crowded it will be, so you can enjoy a peaceful vacation. Have fun!
