How Far Is It To Eldora Speedway? [Answered!]

Eldora Speedway is one of the most historic race tracks in the country. It’s been around since 1914 and was originally built to host motorcycle racing events. Today, it mostly hosts stock car races but it also stages other events like ARCA races and even some motorcycle races. It’s widely considered to be one of the most beautiful and historic race tracks in the nation. The entire place is just oozing with history.

It would be an understatement to say that driving to Eldora Speedway from Toronto is fun. The trip is a good hour and a half and it takes you through some pretty interesting backroads. This is largely thanks to the fact that there are no direct routes to Eldora from Toronto. You have to make a couple of loops to get there. This means that you’ll be passing through parts of the city that you wouldn’t normally reach.

The trip is more than just about racing. You’ll be passing through some of the most historic parts of the city. One of the best things about this venue is that it’s completely open to the public. This means that you can literally drive up and park in the lot without having to worry about finding a spot. Then, you can walk across the street to the grandstand and watch the races. It’s a bit of an unusual feeling to watch a race while sitting in your car rather than on a concrete pavement. This is one of the things that makes this venue so special.

What Time Do The Races Start At Eldora Speedway?

The first thing you’ll notice about Eldora is that it’s not very well-signed. There are a lot of blind corners and it would be easy to get lost. This is mostly thanks to the fact that the track is actually located in between two cities. The track is in Elmore, which is located in the center of the state, but the grandstands are in Duffthider, which is located near the northern border of the state. It’s considered to be one of the most historic (and scenic) venues in the country.

The track itself hosts a variety of racing events, including ARCA and NASCAR stock cars. Check out their website to see what events are on this year.

The season starts in March and runs through November. This means that there are several major holidays that you’ll have to consider when planning your trip. The track closes for the winter in early November and reopens in early March. It’s worth noting that the track is located in a snowbelt so, with more snow than most places, it doesn’t close down easily. If you ask me, this is a good thing.

What Is The Weather Like At Eldora Speedway?

The weather in Elmore is pleasant all year round, even in the winter. The temperature rarely gets below freezing and it rarely goes above 75 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that you can literally walk outside and enjoy the crisp air. There are a lot of sunny days and it doesn’t get too windy. It rarely rains much either, which is great because the track gets a little muddy during the wet season.

The track is located in an elevation, which means that temperatures can get a little chilly. If you come from a place that’s warmer than Elmore, you’ll appreciate the cooler air. Especially during the winter months, when the days are long and you might need an extra layer.

During the summer, on the other hand, the track can get brutally hot. The days are long and there’s usually very little shade. You’ll have to bring plenty of sunscreen with you, just in case. Direct sunlight can damage your skin. It’s not unusual for the temperature to reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit. This can make the air feel like a sauna. Even in the middle of the night, the temperature can still rise above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. This is very unusual for this time of year. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often and the humidity is usually low. This means that you won’t experience any uncomfortable heatwaves. Still, it can be hard to sit in the car and drive all day, even if the temperature is in the 70s Fahrenheit.

How Is Transport To And From Eldora Speedway?

Given that it’s such a long and winding road, it’s no wonder that Eldora is not well-served by public transport. The closest airport is located in Wheeling and it’s about 30 minutes away. There is a bus service that stops near the track but it doesn’t get to the airport. You’ll have to take a cab or rent a car. It’s not hard to find parking spaces but it’s probably best to find a spot a little way from the track. Still, you’ll probably want to get a shuttle to drop you off at the entrance. The last thing you want is to find yourself far from the airport, trying to find a way to the track without having driven there first.

If you want to get to Elmo from the north, you’ll have to take I-70 West to I-74 West, then take the Ohio Turnpike to the North, to get there. Coming from the south, you’ll have to take I-70 East to I-74 East, then take the Ohio Turnpike to the North. The trip takes about an hour and a half from the Toronto airport.

Eldora is about 80 miles from the airport. In order to best enjoy your time there and not spend too much time in your car, I would recommend driving. It is a long and boring trip but it’s not like you’re going all that way, so it’s not like you’re wasting any time. Plus, the trip is more than worth it. You’ll see historic sites, beautiful countryside, and you’ll have a great time. If you do end up getting lost, however, you can ask for help from locals or camp out for the night. You can’t get much worse than being lost in a strange place. Especially since it’s dangerous to hitchhike or walk at night, even when in a populated area.

Eldora is situated in such a way that it’s not easily accessible by public transport. This is one of the things that makes it special. It would be great if more places were like this. Letting the public get a glimpse inside the races and seeing the excitement on their faces is what makes it worth the long drive. Even if you’ve been there before, it’s not likely that you’ll forget about this place. It’s too special.
