How Far Is Speedway Indiana From Indianapolis? [Ultimate Guide!]

If you are planning on traveling to or from Indianapolis, Indiana (IN) this summer, then it is important to know the relative distance between the two places. The state capital city is located on the far west side of the state, while the racetrack is 40 miles to the south. Luckily, Google Maps makes this rather easy. Just search for “How far is Speedway IN from Indianapolis?” and the answer will appear on screen. The distance from Indy to Speedway is 8.2 miles. From there, you can simply head south on US-40 to reach the speedway.

What’s The Weather Like?

If you plan on traveling during the summer, then you will need to know what the weather is going to be like. Fortunately, this is rather easy to find out as well. Just search for “current weather Indianapolis” on Google or Twitter, and you will get the answer. If you want to know what the weather is going to be like 40 miles from Indianapolis, then you can find that out as well by searching for “current weather Speedway.” In most cases, you should get an answer rather quickly. If you want to travel to the speedway during the summer, then make sure to bring along plenty of sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. The sun can be very harsh and may blind you on a bright day. If you don’t have the sunglasses, then cover the parts of your eyes that are exposed to the sun with the palms of your hands when outside. This will help reduce the effects of sun damage.

How To Get There

Getting to the speedway takes a bit of planning. If you are coming from the west, then take the I-65/I-70 East towards Indianapolis. Once you reach the Circle Centre Drive exit, you will see several hotels and restaurants on your left. Turn right at this point, and you will drive down University Avenue towards the university campus. This is when you should start seeing some traffic lights along the way. As you get closer to the area where the university meets the highway, you will begin to see some traffic circles. Stay in the right lane until you reach the last one, and make a right turn there as well. The entrance to the speedway is on your left after this point.

To get to the track from the airport, you will need to take the Van Buren Bridge into downtown Indianapolis. After you cross the bridge, make a right turn onto Westfield Boulevard. Continue straight ahead on Westfield, and you will arrive at the Indianapolis International Airport well within sight of the track. From the airport, you can either take the short taxi ride to the hotel, or you can walk to the nearest Metrolink station. From there, you can take a train or bus into town. The Indianapolis Metrolink has stops along the way and is rather convenient if you are traveling by rail. You can also call the Indianapolis Airport Shuttle directly if you prefer to use that option instead.

What To Bring

Once you get to the speedway, what should you bring? This is rather easy to answer as well. Obviously, you will need your ID and credit card if you are planning on purchasing tickets. You also need to have something to drink. This could be anything from a soft drink to a cup of coffee or a cocktail. Whatever it may be, make sure to bring it with you. You can also bring a water bottle and fill it up at one of the drink stations along the way. Finally, you will need comfortable shoes. If you are planning on walking to the track, then make sure to wear comfortable shoes. You can’t wear heels or high heels near the track due to the height of the fence that surrounds the racing surface. This could cause damage to both your feet and your ankles. Also bring a small clutch or purse if you are coming from the airport. You never know when you might need it.

There are many ways to park at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you are coming from the airport, then there is an airport garage that you can use. This is where all the parked cars are covered and have no signs posted indicating whether they are spaces for rent or available for purchase. If you are driving directly to the track, then you can use one of the many hotel and garage combination spaces. This is where you will find a hotel lobby and a garage side by side. To get to the track, just pull into the garage, and park in one of the many spots. Most of these spots are marked with white “$” signs on a red background. You can also find cheaper parking lots near the exits. Just look for the parking lot entrances that are clearly marked “NC” (for nonsubscribed) or “NCR” (for commercial).

As mentioned above, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is located in the southern part of the state. This means that the winters are rather harsh. In fact, the climate is not very welcoming to people who are not used to it. The only good thing is that the autumn and spring are rather beautiful and can be wonderful transitions into a green and growing season. If you are looking for somewhere cooler, then head to Canada or the northern parts of the U.S. instead. In most cases, you won’t find too much of a difference between the two places. You will just need to be prepared for a lot more rain (and perhaps even snow).
