How Many Acres Is Texas Motor Speedway? [Ultimate Guide!]

After recently buying a ticket to see the mighty Texan Harley Davidson take on the Silverado, Potpourri, and Raptor, this writer was inspired to discover more about this historic track.

According to Wikipedia, Texas Motor Speedway is located in Fort Worth and was originally built in 1954. Since then, it has hosted many iconic sporting events including the Grand National, now known as the Monster Energy Super Bowl. The track originally used a dirt surface until switching to a concrete track in the 1970s. Since then, it has hosted many different racing series as well as some memorable motorsport shows.

There are many different ways to enjoy Texas Motor Speedway. You can take a spin around the track in a virtual reality headset, watch the races from the grandstands, or catch a show on the big screen television. However, the best way to experience this jewel of a facility is from the speedway itself. Unfortunately, finding the entrance to the speedway is not easy. The best way to get there is by flying into the airport and renting a car. Then, after you clear all of the hurdles, all you have to do is enjoy the race.

The Grandstands

The grandstands at Texas Motor Speedway are among the most glorious in the entire world. Boasting 16,500 fixed seats and a total of 24,000 seats in the stands, these structures are visible for miles. If you are going to be in Fort Worth, be sure to head to this historic track and take a peek at what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately, the best view of the races comes from the comfort of your own home. You can watch the live stream on your computer, phone, or tablet. Plus, if you are feeling extra adventurous, you can even attend one of the many live shows held at the track each year. Sadly, the best way to enjoy these glorious grandstands is from a seat inside of them. Despite all the construction going on around them, the grandstands have managed to stay standing through thick and thin. For a closer look at these incredible structures, check out this excellent architectural photo exhibit called The Grandstands: An Illustrated History of Sports Stands at the Movies by Jim Moseley.

The Paddock

The paddock at Texas Motor Speedway is where cars prepare for the big race. In a way, it is also the part of the track where the real action takes place. The best place to be is near the start of the backstretch when the cars are just about to take off. Then, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show. Just make sure you keep your eyes open for cars that might hit you as you are watching the race unfold in front of you. If you are lucky, you might even get to see the drivers come out to give you a wave as they go by. To get a good look at the cars in the paddock, you can hike over to the pits where you will find mechanics working hard to get the cars ready for the big race. Race Track

The race track at Texas Motor Speedway is where all the action really happens. However, even if you are not that familiar with racing, you will still have a good time. The track is rather short, but it makes up for it in intensity. As mentioned before, the best place to be is near the start of the backstretch when the cars are just about to take off. Then, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the show. If you are lucky enough to be there at the right time, you might even get to see some overtakes or some awesome burnouts. Be sure to look at this blog post for more information about the track called The Racetrack: An In-Depth Look at Texas Motor Speedway’s Main Event by Christian Ladd.

Surface

The surface of the track at Texas Motor Speedway is rather unique. While most tracks are either asphalt or concrete, this one is made of earth. In addition, part of the track is on an elevation and it is surrounded by a giant hedge. This makes the surface rather unpredictable since it can change elevation which can change how the car performs. Aircraft Park

The aircraft park at the airport is the place where you will find the small planes that used to race for charity during the World War II. You can spend about 30 minutes to an hour here taking a look at the old warbird. Then, once you are done admiring these beautiful airplanes, you can catch a bus to downtown to enjoy the rest of your day. The best part about this location is that you are allowed to photograph the planes without having a fight with the guards. Be sure to check out this awesome Flickr group called The Final Assembly Line where you can enjoy vintage airplane photos. These places are truly historic and it is an excellent way to learn more about aviation in general.

Now, it’s time for you to do your own research about Texas Motor Speedway. Start by looking at their website and checking out the different amenities they have to offer. You can also call their main phone number and ask about any specific questions you might have. Then, when you are ready to go for a drive, just head to the airport and get a rental car. Finally, after you clear all of the hurdles, it’s time to enjoy the ride and take a look at all the splendor that is Texas Motor Speedway.
