How Many Seats Are At Daytona Speedway? [Answered!]

Most racing fans are probably familiar with the Daytona International Speedway, known simply as “Daytona” – and with good reason. It may not be the largest track in the world, but it is certainly one of the most famous. In addition to being the home of the Daytona 500, it also hosts concerts, food festivals, and even a gun show! If you’re ever in the Daytona area, be sure to check out this world-class race track.

The Anatomy Of A NASCAR Street Car

One of the reasons why the Daytona Speedway is so famous is because of its unique layout. Instead of using traditional grandstand seating like other sports venues, all of the seats at Daytona are placed along the inside of the track! This provides the viewers with a perfect view of the action even though they are unable to see over the top of the cars.

It wasn’t always this way. Back in the day, the track used to have its grandstands along the outside walls of the track. This provided the fans with a perfect view of the cars, but it blocked the view of the track which is why they had seats built inside the track. This is why when you visit the Daytona Speedway now, you’ll notice that all of the seats are on the inside!

The Grandstand Vs. The Trackside Pavilion

Located behind each grandstand at Daytona is a small wooden structure that was originally built as a trackside restaurant. Over the years, these structures have been expanded to become the trackside pavilions – and they’re absolutely stunning!

These are the areas where you’ll find most of the food trucks, along with some of the luxury suites that surround the track. One of the greatest things about these areas is that they provide the fans with an experience that is a bit different from what they’d get inside the grandstand. You’ll see more fans in these areas, along with a greater diversity of people – so it’s definitely a place to make a new acquaintance!

For a more traditional fan experience, you’ll want to be in the covered stands. This is where the majority of the action takes place, so it’s the place to be for the biggest races!

Along with the restaurant area, the trackside pavilions offer a great place to people watch. You’ll normally find yourself beside some of the greatest brands in sports, and it’s a great spot to people watch the race and take a break from the action (if you’re a fan of brands, that is).

The Top Seats In The House

If you’re looking for the best seats in the house, you can’t really go wrong with the Skyway Suite or the Diamond Cabana. These are the two top seats at Daytona, and they provide the fans with an incredible view of the entire track!

The Skyway Suite is on the roof of the main grandstand, and it is a good option if you want to people watch while eating a decent meal. You won’t be in the same room as the players or celebrities, but you’ll certainly feel like you are!

The best part of the Skyway Suite, as far as I’m concerned, is the panoramic view that it provides. You and your eyes will be treated to a 360-degree view of the entire track – if you’ve ever been to Daytona before, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about!

For something more luxurious, you can’t really go wrong with the Diamond Cabana. This is the area where the corporate sponsorships are located along the outside walls of the track. It is attached to the trackside grandstand and it provides its occupants with a fantastic view of the entire track.

What I love about this area is how it changes through the year. You’ll see more luxury brands at the track during the offseason, along with the occasional motorcycle gang. However, during the season, you’ll mostly see the names of the major corporations plastered all over the place! It makes you feel like you’re in a real special place when the sun is setting and the grandstand is filling up with cars and families.

What About Those Wooden Stadiums?

If you were a fan of American football in the early 20th century, you may have visited a stadium that looked a lot like Daytona. The only difference is that the seats in these stadiums were placed in the sand for lack of a better location. Back then, there was no question that sitting in the sand was the best location to be for a football game. You’ll likely feel like you’ve traveled back in time when you visit these stadiums today.

What I love most about the wooden stadiums is how they looked more like a real football field rather than the carpeted ones we see today. Of course, the wooden ones were not as comfortable as the ones we know today – but with the weather warming up, it’s nice to sit outside and catch some rays rather than freezing in the stands.

Whether you’re at the stadium or at the speedway, you’ll get the same great view of the racing action. It may not be the most modern of venues, but the nostalgia factor alone makes it worth a visit.
