How Old Is The California Speedway In Fontana? [Facts!]

Nestled amid the rolling hills and sunny skies of California, Fontana is a city that prides itself on its beauty. With a population of just over 100,000, it is home to the Ontario Motor Speedway and the California Speedway, both of which are popular venues for motorsport enthusiasts from around the world. Despite being a relatively small city, there is a great deal to do here. If you are looking for places to enjoy an evening out, you will certainly find that the city has a variety of restaurants and bars that are perfect for you.

One of the city’s most unique attractions is the Haloween Historical Society’s House of Horrors. This ghoulishly delightful museum houses countless gruesome curiosities, such as shrunken heads, ghost masks, and other macabre objects. The museum is open every day of the week except for Mondays, and offers a fun and educational experience for all ages. It is located near the intersection of Haloween Street and Niles Avenue, so be sure to check it out if you’re in the neighbourhood.

If you love cars, then you can’t miss the nearby Fontana District Shopping Center. This massive structure features all the popular car brands, as well as a variety of unique and vintage vehicles that are for sale. Of course, not all of the cars are for sale. Many of them are on display, and it is open every day of the week except for Mondays, so you can come back later if you missed it. The center is located in the middle of the city, near the freeway on-ramps.

Is The California Speedway Still Thriving?

If you’re not familiar, the California Speedway is a motorsport complex that opened in 1955 and is the first of its kind in North America. It is located on the site of a former military airport, about 40 minutes from downtown Los Angeles. The sprawling complex features five racing tracks, an exhibition hall, and a hotel. The complex is still home to top racing series, such as the Monster Energy Cup Series and the IndyCar Series. One of the city’s biggest annual festivals, the Spring Classic, takes place here, and features top teams and drivers from around the world participating in car exhibitions, races, and festivities.

The stadium is currently undergoing a major renovation, slated for completion in 2022. This project will see the addition of 5,000 seats, new suites, and other new amenities. In addition, the city is currently in the process of marketing a proposal to the NFL to host the next Superbowl here.

What Is The Ontario Motor Speedway?

Located just minutes away from the California Speedway is the Ontario Motor Speedway. This 3.9-acre racing complex opened in 1966 and is one of the first motorsport venues of its kind in North America. The stadium, which is commonly referred to as the “Baby Grandstand”, is still home to the Ontario Grand Prix, a race that takes place each year in October. While the Baby Grandstand hosts most of the activities, the entire complex is open to the public, offering a variety of trackside experiences, from traditional seating to standing room along the baseline.

The stadium also features the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, which honours the area’s finest athletes. The complex is open every day of the week except for Mondays, and also offers a variety of onsite activities, including a children’s museum, an indoor pool, and a nine-hole pitch and putt golf course.
