If you’ve ever been to a Speedway gas station, you’ll know that they’re known for their generous rewards program. Every time you make a purchase at the gas station, you get a little plastic card with a computer chip in it. Those little cards are called Speedway Rewards cards. A couple of months back, I got the bright idea to see if I could combine my Speedway Rewards cards and make one mega-card that would give me lots of benefits. Was this possible? You bet it was! Here’s how I did it.
First, I Flocked (Literally) The Entire Car
As the name would suggest, flocking is the process of spraying a mesh-like material onto the surface of an object to give it a shiny, new appearance. To perform this service, I picked up a can of Krylon Fusion spray in matte black, and proceeded to cover my entire 1997 Honda Civic.
While it was a beautiful day outside, I was a little anxious inside the car. Would it work? Would I regret my decision to coat the entire thing in plastic? After all, cars are expensive pieces of machinery that you generally don’t want to damage even if you do have the intention to paint it again. The answer to my question was yes, I would regret it. Flocking is not something you want to experiment with unless you are confident that you know what you’re doing. I highly recommend using a quality shield such as this one from Krylon so that you don’t ruin your car’s paint job when trying out this technique.
Next, I Painted The Exterior Of My Car
Once I had my car flocked and coloured, I took the interior out for a spin and performed a quick touch-up with some paint for my daughter’s stroller. Afterward, I felt satisfied since the outside of the car matched the inside. If you’ve ever seen the movie Dirty Harry, you know what I’m talking about when I say that a car’s exterior is often times the most difficult part to cover in a way that makes it look brand-new. Sometimes the best solution is to paint over the entire thing and start from scratch. To be on the safe side, I would recommend using an auto paint sprayer to apply the thick coats and prevent any mistakes. Trying out this technique for yourself is not recommended if you aren’t confident that you can do a good job.
Then, I Cut Open The Wrappers On Varying Sizes Of Energy Drinks
After my painting and flocking adventures, I went to my local 7-Eleven to pick up a six-pack of Red Bull and a twelve-pack of Dr Pepper. Since this was my first attempt at combining several different rewards cards, I decided to experiment with the different types of energy drinks available at the store. As you can imagine, the flavors and the size of the cans vary widely, so I had to find the right containers to receive the rewards from the different companies. I started off with the Red Bull and quickly realized that it would be easier to go with the bigger can since it contained more liquid. Dr Pepper worked just as well, but the smaller can was much easier to hide inside.
When it comes to applying reward programs, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you want to make sure that the chip on the card is active and working. Some companies’ cards don’t work with other companies’ terminals, making it impossible to combine the two. Fortunately for me, all of the products I selected worked with one another, and the end result was quite magical. I would definitely recommend trying this experiment out if you’ve got several NASCAR rewards cards to combine. Just make sure that you’ve got the right containers and that the chips are operational before you start mixing up the drinks!
As you can see from the image above, I was able to successfully combine all of the rewards from the different companies into one. I was really impressed with how easy it was to do, and I think anyone could accomplish the same thing if they tried. I’ll be looking forward to combining my rewards from other sources in the future.
