The supercell that hit Florida was the result of a slow-moving storm system that allowed it to gather incredible amounts of moisture from the ocean. In some places, the rain and thunderstorms were so intense that it rained for many days on end. In other areas, it was only heavy rainfall, but the effects were the same. Flash flooding was common and many roads and houses were damaged. In some cases, homes were completely destroyed and hundreds of people had to be evacuated. This is why it’s important to be mindful of where you park your car and take cover, if necessary.
When Will The Weather Normalize?
Meteorologists had a difficult time pinpointing the beginning of the current weather event, but there were signs that it began last year. Due to a lack of rainfall leading up to the summer of 2019, the humidity levels were abnormally high and the air was thick and muggy. As the summer progressed, there was less and less rain, but the heat remained. It wasn’t until the end of August that things finally began to normalize and the temperature began its descent. Since then, we’ve had relatively dry conditions, although not always pleasant. This year has seen a lot of ups and downs, including some pretty dramatic temperature fluctuations.
