Is Walt Disney Speedway Destroyed? [Facts!]

On one hand, the new millennium has begun which means that it’s time for a whole new set of movies and attractions at Disney California Adventure Park. On the other hand, the decade which was the 21st century is now coming to an end, and with it, a whole new set of questions about what will happen to the park and its beloved attractions.

Will The Slopes Remain?

The most obvious and perhaps the most significant change which will impact Walt Disney Speedway is the rebranding which will see the California-themed park become California Adventures Park. The park will still feature races as a central element, however, races will be known as California Adventurers Races rather than Mickey Mouse Races. This is a subtle yet significant change in how fans of the park will know the races which will take place there. The name “Walt Disney Speedway” will still be used for the annual event, however, the overall feel of the races will change significantly.

What Will Happen To The Slides?

The next big question which will be answered as part of this rebranding is what will happen to the slides at the park. Will they remain or will they be dismantled and removed?

At the moment, there is no clear indication as to whether the slides will be preserved or removed. One thing which is for certain is that they will not be fixed as they current pose a threat to anyone which might get stuck behind them. The park’s management will make a decision on this point soon, but for now, it seems that anyone who has a fear of heights will not want to go on the slides at California Adventure Park. For those who do want to try them, there are plenty of other attractions which they can choose from.

What About The Tower?

The third significant change which will arise from this rebranding is what will happen to the Tower. Will it stay or will it go?

Again, there is no clear indication as to whether the Tower will be preserved or removed. Its current location at the park’s center seems to make it an ideal choice for removal as it doesn’t seem to fit into the new direction which the park is taking. Those who love classic Disney architecture, however, may want to ask for a second opinion as the Tower is a very important piece of Disney history.

What About The Bowl?

The last significant change which will occur as a part of the rebranding is what will happen to the Bowl at the park. Will it stay or will it go?

The answer to this question is also not clear at the moment, however, with all the construction which has gone on at the park in recent years, it seems likely that the Bowl can no longer play its original function. Perhaps one day, the Bowl will be removed and rebuilt on a grander scale.

What is clear from all of this is that the 21st century is now coming to an end, and although it will always hold a special place in our hearts, the future of Walt Disney Speedway is now uncertain. With everything which has happened in the past decade and the rebranding which is about to take place, it would be a great time for fans of the park to visit before it is too late.
