What Can You See From Daytona International Speedway? [Answered!]

There’s something exciting about getting out of town and discovering a place you’ve never been to before. Even more exciting is when you get there and it doesn’t live up to your expectations. The latter is the case with Daytona International Speedway. Located in Florida, the track doesn’t quite measure up to the grand touring racing facility it purports to be. Nevertheless, it’s still a sight to behold, and one that will draw you back for more.

The Grand Touring Strip

Daytona International Speedway is a blend of all the grand touring racing facilities you’d find across the globe. For starters, it has the famous Daytona Beach front, lined with hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Further back, you’ll find a variety of motosports venues, including a motorcycle racing park and a go-cart track.

This Florida racing colossus boasts various layouts, including the famed tri-oval that hosts the main NASCAR event. Surrounding the oval is a collection of tech buildings, including the spectacular spires of the ‘House of Pancakes’ and ‘Sunset Tower.’ There are also a variety of bars, restaurants, and clubs to be found here.

The Lights!

Even diehard NASCAR fans might be surprised to learn that the bright lights aren’t actually situated at the front of the venue. Instead, they’re located along a stretch of road that leads back to the grandstands. There’s a reason they’re called the ‘Lightning’ Strips’ – it wasn’t always so! Before the construction of the tech buildings in the early 1980s, the lighting rig was located at the front of the track. It was considered the high point of each lap for a driver, as it got brighter and more vibrant as they approached it. Unfortunately, with the exception of the Daytona 500, the lighting hasn’t been a part of the race since 1994.

The Food!

The menu at Daytona International Speedway is something to behold. From traditional American fare to traditional English foods, you’ll find something to suit every taste. In addition, some of the most famous chefs in the country have taken the stage here, including Emeril Lagasse and Bobby Flay. If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience, you’ll find a number of high-end eateries scattered around the facility. Finally, you need to try the funnel cakes. Huge, fresh, and fried…just like you’d find in an English pub!

The People!

What makes a racing facility great is the people that populate it. The fans that show up on this particular Sunday afternoon will witness one of the greatest shows put on by any sports organization in the country. The grandstands will be teeming with life, with some seats being sold out several seasons in advance. This is especially impressive when you consider the fact that many of these fans will travel from all over the country to be here.

The best way to experience Daytona International Speedway is by attending one of its races. You’ll get a taste of everything the place has to offer, from the food to the people and the beautiful weather in the summertime!
