You make a stop at the Speedway gas station for quick fuel and to grab a bite to eat. While you’re there, you notice a little ding on the side of the carport. You decide to call the gas station and get the name of the business that owns the carport. You place the call and a young woman answers. You ask if there’s someone around who can help you and she transfers you to someone else.
You explain what happened and the person on the other end of the line apologizes and promises to have a look at the carport. A short time later, a man from the service desk walks over to your vehicle and starts talking to you about the problem. He reviews the work order and then asks you if you’re still there.
You say you are and he walks you through how the repairs will be handled. You make the payment and drive off leaving the gas station with a full tank of gas and a smile on your face.
A few days later, you get a call from the gas station asking you to come back and pay for the work. You tell them you will and then ask them if there’s anything else you can do for them. They say no and you thank them for their help.
A few days go by and you get a call from the gas station asking you to stop by and pay for other services. You ask if there’s anything else they need and the person on the other end of the line says there is one more thing. You tell them you will be there in a few minutes and wait for them to finish their work. A few minutes later, another man walks over to your car and asks you what you need done. You explain that you need a new lock for your car’s carport. He gets the proper lock and attaches it to your vehicle. You thank him and he walks you to the door. As you’re leaving, he tells you the gas station serves pretty much everyone. If you need a plumber, a carpenter, or someone to fix your air conditioning unit, they’re the people to call. You tell him you’ll remember and then leave the gas station.

A few days later, you get a call from the gas station asking if you can pay for a few bottles of wine. You tell them you will and then ask if there’s anything else they need. They say no and you thank them for their help. You hang up the phone and get in your vehicle. As you’re putting it in drive, you realize you forgot to pay for the oil change and carwash that you had earlier that week. You sigh and think to yourself that you’re running low on money. You decide to go back and pay for those services, too. As you’re paying, you notice a dark spot on the side of your windshield. You go ahead and pay with a credit card, figuring you’ll get a discount for paying with plastic. As you leave the gas station, the salesperson asks you if there’s anything else they can help you with and you say no. You then make a call to your bank to see if you can locate your bank card. While your bank determines the transaction is fraudulent, you patiently wait for your card to be reinstated.
A few days go by and you receive a call from the gas station inquiring about your mother. You tell them you don’t know where she is and that you haven’t seen her in a while. They tell you they have her recent address and ask if you want it. You tell them you do and they give it to you over the phone. You say you’ll stop back by and visit your mom. A few days later, you show up at her house and ring the bell. Waits a few moments and then a voice from inside yells for your mom. You go to the door and ring the bell again. She comes to the door and asks who it is. You tell her it’s you and she asks if she can help you. You tell her you came to see about her and she invites you in. You walk into the house and sit down in the living room. Your mom brings you a beverage and you tell her you came to see how she’s doing. She says she’s doing well and that she misses her church group. You tell her you’re sorry to hear that and say you’d like to go with her next time.

His eyes go to your collar and shirt and he asks if you’re a cop or security service. You laugh and say no, but then tell him you’re a friend of a friend. He asks if he can help you and you tell him you came to see about him and his health. He says he’s feeling better and that he takes vitamins to stay healthy. You tell him you’re glad to hear that and say you’ll let him know if you see anything that needs to be done.
A few days go by and then another call comes from the gas station. This time, they ask if you can come back and pay for some airtime for the radio. You tell them you don’t have much money and they tell you they’ll work with what you have. You tell them you have a credit card and they ask if you want to use it. You tell them you do and they give you the required information. You then make the payment and drive off. While on the way home, you call the gas station to let them know you’re on your way. You tell them you have a present for them and it’s in the mail. You then hand the phone to your passenger and ask him to hold the phone while you open your present. A few seconds later, he hands it back to you and says you had them both excited. You tell him it was just a book and they both laugh. You then tell him you’re really glad he’s feeling better and that you’ll check in with him on occasion. You end the call and then realize you forgot to pay for the oil change and carwash again. You sigh and decide to go back. As you’re paying, a woman at the register asks you what you need. You tell her and she looks at the work order. You ask her if she’s seen it and she says no. You then tell her you forgot to pay and she requests a credit card. You give it to her and she makes the payment. You tell him you will and then leave the station.
