For those of you who have been following my blogs for a while, you will know that I often write about my travels. As you can imagine, exploring unknown parts of the country and visiting iconic landmarks is fairly routine for me. Besides, I always like to squeeze in a few motos (motorcycle races) along the way. As you may know, I am a huge fan of the Indianapolis 500 (The Brickyard). That is probably the biggest race of the year and certainly one of the most prestigious. Naturally, I like to get my fix by following the action on Twitter. Sometimes I even enter the race myself and follow the action there too. The same principle goes for the Talladega Superspeedway. It is a huge racetrack in Alabama where the Indy 500 is held each year. Since I have been following the whole thing online, it was only a matter of time before I wrote a blog article about it!
Indy 500: The Ultimate Test Of Skill And Strategy
First off, let’s talk about the Indianapolis 500. I have to admit, I have been following the big race since I started blogging. When it comes to the Indy 500, the atmosphere is electric. Every year, fans travel from all over the country to watch this unique tribute to Americana. This year’s edition took place last May and was won by Fernando Alonso. It was a great year for the legendary Mexican driver and a huge upset for most people who were picking (or betting) on him to lose.
The Indy 500 is run on a temporary road course, which is located in the central part of the city. The track is actually a combination of two different layouts: the main straight and the figure-eight. There are 17 turns, all corners and there is even one chicane. The race itself lasts for one and a half hours and from the sound of things, people are already planning next year’s race!
To put it simply, the Indy 500 is the quintessential American race. It is the epitome of competition and a show of pure determination. It is a real head-turner when it comes to cars and motorbikes. I have been to several major races over the years, including the Monaco Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Daytona 24-hour, but the Indy 500 still manages to amaze me every time I watch it on television. For some reason, the United States really loves this race. It is almost like a national pastime!
Talladega Superspeedway: The Mecca Of Motorcycle Racing
If you are a fan of motorcycling, you will love the Talladega Superspeedway. It is located in Talladega, Alabama and is one of the biggest and most prestigious motorcycling venues in the world. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people flock there to watch some of the biggest names in motorcycling compete in this race. It is the eighth-largest stadium in the country. Naturally, you might be wondering, what is so special about this race?
Well, for starters, it is a flat piece of road. The track itself is a combination of two separate layouts: the Main Straight and the Figure-Eight. The former is very similar to the famous Brickyard. There are some slight differences though. For example, instead of going around in circles, the figure-eight part of the course goes in an egg-shaped pattern. The track also used to be called the Alabama Motor Speedway, until it changed its name to the Talladega Superspeedway. The name change was made to attract more people to the venue and it seems to have worked!
I mean, if you are into motorsports, you have to check out the Talladega Superspeedway. It is the quintessential American road-race and it draws big crowds every year. It can only be run in summer, so if you are a fan of motorbikes, you will want to make sure you attend at least one outdoor moto before the end of the year.
