Last month, a rumor began circulating that the well-known drag strip known as “The Big O” might be closing its doors for the last time. Since that time, the rumors have continued to grow and now the closure of “The Big O” has become a reality. What is going on at National Trail Speedway today? Let’s take a look…
National Trail Is Still Going Strong
Although “The Big O” has closed its doors for the last time, National Trail is still going strong. The drag racing franchise owned and operated by Chris Ledbetter has seen its share rise from 2.8% to 10% since the beginning of the year as a direct result of its marketing efforts and commitment to customer service. Ledbetter commented, “The Big O’s days are numbered because it has been declining in attendance and donations for years now. Our attendance is up and our donations are at their highest in years, so we are using this as a chance to strengthen our organization even more. We are committed to keeping the track open for as long as possible, and are doing everything in our power to make that happen.”
Despite the rumors, National Trail’s Facebook page has been very active with numerous posts sharing information about upcoming events, activities, and community drives.
Why Should You Visit National Trail?
If you are looking for a place to attend an event, National Trail is a great option. Not only does it host some of the most iconic drag races in the country, but it also offers a variety of other exciting motorsports activities. For example, the National Corvette Museum is just a few minutes away and those who love vintage cars will definitely want to check out their collection. If you love animals, there is also the opportunity to see them up close and personal at the Animal Attraction, a charity that provides care for elderly and sick animals.
If you are looking for a place to eat, shop, or fuel up before or after an event, National Trail has you covered as well. The dealership located on-site sells Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC vehicles and is open to the public, so you can bring your vehicle for service or purchase. Also, if you are looking to eat, the track has you covered with several different restaurants and eateries. You can get your fix of the classic American eatery or opt for a more contemporary dining experience at the nearby Speedway Socialhouse or Brick & Motorcycle Inn.
