When Is The Next Race At Bristol Motor Speedway? [Facts!]

The 2020 NASCAR season has been canceled, but that doesn’t mean your favorite racing teams and drivers have gone away. Not by a long shot. In fact, with the upcoming IndyCar World Series and NASCAR Cup Series holding virtual races, it’s given us an opportunity to catch up with our old friends from across the pond. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane…

The First NASCAR Race Held At The Bristol Motor Speedway Was On…

It was on March 9th, 1940, that motorsport history was made at the Bristol (Tennessee) Speedway as Babe Ruth piloted the #1 Chevy to victory in the very first NASCAR Grand National race. This was 50 years before NASCAR was even considered a thing, and even then, the cars had flocked wheels instead of tires. Talk about bringing back old memories!

The Last NASCAR Race Held At The Bristol Motor Speedway Was On…

It was on October 12th, 1963, that NASCAR celebrated its first-ever national television audience as Jack Roush piloted the No. 22 Chevy to victory in the World 600. It had been a banner year for Roush, winning the Daytona 500 and the World 600. The last ever NASCAR race at the Tennessee track, which had been renamed the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in honor of the Bristol-based insurance giant, was won by Jim Clark. One-of-a-kind!

Back to reality now. With the return of the IndyCar Series and the 2020 NASCAR season on hiatus, it’s time to reminisce about the good old days and focus on the present and future of motorsport.

The Return Of The IndyCar Series…

For the uninitiated, the IndyCar Series is the top tier of open wheel racing in America. Founded in 1960, the series adopted its name from its three founding members: Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, and Rick Mears. The first Indianapolis 500 was held in 1911, and it’s one of the country’s most prestigious motor races. It’s also one of the world’s greatest annual sporting events, attracting huge TV audiences and plenty of passionate fans. If you’ve never been, you should really try and make it to an IndyCar race some time. They’re a lot of fun, and you’ll enjoy the hell out of it.

The 2020 NASCAR Season Is Hiatus…

This year, the NASCAR season is on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While we were lucky enough to see the start of the season, with restrictions on gatherings and events being lifted, most tracks have adopted a hiatus policy. Fortunately, NASCAR has maintained its competitive schedule, with virtual racing formats being implemented across the organization. We couldn’t be happier to have our favorite pastime back, and we look forward to seeing the first real-life NASCAR race once more.

Future Of NASCAR…

The future of NASCAR looks incredibly bright, both on and off the track. Without a doubt, its popularity continues to grow every year, especially as more and more people want to become involved in motor sports. As virtual racing becomes a common platform, we can expect to see more people attending real-life races thanks to the likes of Team Engin, which put on an incredible display in a virtual stock car race, or Next Gen, which puts on an awesome online experience for their fans. Who knows? Maybe one day, NASCAR will even adopt a fully online format.

As for the cars themselves, well, they haven’t changed much in 80 years. The technology is amazing, and the graphics are extremely realistic. However, advancements in automotive engineering have made it possible to build faster and more efficient cars. Take the 2020 Chevy Corvette ZR1, for example, which not only looks incredible but also handles beautifully and will undoubtedly go down as one of the best-looking cars in automotive history. You’d think that with all these technological advancements, the cars would be different, but that’s not the case. It’s the same old formula, but with a refresh at the end. Always keeping things fresh is what keeps the fans coming back for more.
